I have often watched two fish swimming side by side in ponds or along the water’s edge. Perhaps because a single fish feels incomplete, I found the harmony of a pair moving together to be beautifully compelling. Through these images of fish, I wish to express human emotions.

By partially borrowing elements from traditional Korean folk painting (Minhwa) “Eohaedo”, yet transforming the colors, composition, and spatial structure in a modern way — even adding fairy-tale-like narratives — I aim to make my work feel more familiar and accessible.

As I bring these fish onto the canvas to depict the many emotions of love, I hope that viewers, within the space of the painting, can approach with a pure and genuine heart. Whether the scene feels like underwater, a flower field, or a third, imagined world, may these peacefully swimming fish inspire each viewer to become the protagonist of their own story, unfolding quietly within their own surroundings.
