I am Hong Mua, an artist who paints Mua, a being that embodies the idea of selflessness. Mua is like a puppet — it does not move by itself, but comes to life only when touched by someone else’s hand. Through this fragile, dependent, and almost helpless figure, I look inward to examine the part of myself that cannot stand alone, that waits quietly to be seen, understood, or awakened by another. Painting Mua is therefore both a confession and a dialogue — a way of expressing vulnerability while reaching outward to connect with the world.

Mua reflects the childlike self within me, the part that never learned how to move freely or confidently. Yet through art, this small being begins to breathe, gesture, and speak. Each painting becomes a space where I confront weakness without shame, where hesitation transforms into emotional truth. Instead of avoiding fragility, I acknowledge it as something real, something human.

Mua exists not as a perfect figure, but as an honest one — awkward, uncertain, dependent, yet yearning. In painting this silent character, I also paint my own evolution: the desire to grow, the courage to exist, and the hope of becoming genuine one day. Through Mua, I search for myself — the self that lives beyond fear, beyond imitation, beyond the strings that once held me still.
