The central theme of my work is the pursuit and meaning of happiness.
Happiness (幸福) refers to a state of satisfaction or joy when desires are fulfilled, or the hopeful state of anticipating joy. It is both a psychological condition and a rational realm.
This sense of happiness can be subjective or objective. For some, it is natural and effortless, while for others even the simplest form of joy may be difficult to attain. Happiness is something only I myself can feel in moments of leisure and serenity—it cannot be substituted by others, nor is it a superficial display for appearances.
All people dream of happiness, desiring a better life than the present, pursuing a life that is more relaxed, unique, and fulfilling than the past. Yet, in modern society, where status is emphasized and appearances are heavily judged, it is often difficult to live a truly satisfying life.
I believe, however, that life changes with a more relaxed state of mind. No matter my position, I can enjoy my life as it is. Activities such as yachting, horseback riding, or golf have become more widespread, yet they remain inaccessible to many, and participating in them does not guarantee true happiness. Still, they represent a longing for a better life. This desire for happiness and a more fulfilling existence is not confined to the present, but is a timeless human aspiration.
My work embodies the hope that all who view it will feel happiness and embrace life positively. At the same time, I address the issues of modern society, where people are often judged by appearances, by translating these themes into painting. Through humor and a playful interpretation, I aim to make these questions approachable, fostering both communication and empathy.
