In <Camouflaged Selves>, the artist draws on the concept of the persona, focusing on hairstyle as a cultural act that reveals the inner self.
By layering various hair forms onto mask-like faces, she visualizes the self in conflict between appearance and essence.
In her process, the artist first photographs three-dimensional sculptures to flatten them into two-dimensional images, then reattaches hair forms in low relief to reconstruct them into three-dimensional works once again.
This method goes beyond visual effect — it metaphorically expresses identity that constantly shifts between the flat and the dimensional.
Ultimately, the theme of “camouflage” becomes embedded in the very technique itself, tightly interweaving form and concept within the work.
