Leeseo Noh
My work is a process of building an imaginary paradise — a world that does not exist in reality yet truly exists at the same time.
For me, it appears as imagery on the canvas; for others, it takes shape in their own time and space.
This “Mureungdowon,” or utopian paradise, is not a distant ideal but a reachable place of peace.
Based on this concept, I combine mythical imagination and personal memory to create my own version of paradise.
By rearranging Eastern symbols such as tigers, blue giraffes, the sun-and-mountain motif, peonies, clouds, water, and cranes, I infuse each work with personal emotion and recollection.
The painting becomes a paradise within me and a gateway for viewers to recall their own.
For me, this act of creation is the transformation of life’s traces into beauty — a lifelong record of my journey.
